St. Joseph's Church
St. Joseph's Church
St. Joseph's is situated in the western part of Ennis, on the road that connects Galway Road to Tulla Road. The church was built in 1972 and has the special feature of being linked to St. Joseph's Community Hospital, offering residents and patients valuable and constant access to parish life.
The church has a capacity for approximately 500 people and has a floor plan that provides excellent visual contact between the Shrine and the Assembly, favoring participation in the celebrations and community experience.
Among the highlights of the church is the icon of St. Joseph with the Child Jesus, the work of iconographer Solrun Nes. The white lily is a symbol of purity, innocence and peace.
The doves represent the turtledoves that Mary and Joseph brought as sacrifices at the presentation of the Child Jesus in the temple. Saint Joseph slightly tilts his head towards the child, but his gaze remains turned towards us, inviting us to contemplation and trust.
